Wichita
Information Service
The Wichita
Information Service is our local service center for Districts 19
and 20 in Wichita. It
is made up of representatives from groups within these districts.
The Wichita Information Service functions to oversee most
of the public outreach activities of the districts.
In addition, it serves as the governing body of our
Wichita Literature Distribution Center. Here is a small sample of some of the
responsibilities and activities of our Wichita Information
Service:
- Produces,
updates, and distributes our meeting directories.
- Maintains
our Al-Anon Information Line by setting it up, paying the
bill monthly, gathering and training volunteers to respond to
the calls.
- Maintains
an ad for Al-Anon in the yellow pages and makes sure our
listing in the white pages is correct.
- Provides
speakers to treatment centers in the area.
- Distributes
a quarterly mailing to over 100 professionals in the Wichita
area, providing them with a current directory and information
about Al-Anon.
- Organizes
and mans booths at health fairs, nurses conferences, etc. to
provide information about Al-Anon
- Oversees
the Literature Distribution Center so all members and groups
can purchase literature locally.
The Wichita
Information Service meets monthly on the first Thursday of every
month at 7:00 pm.
We
meet at the Literature Distribution Center, 1150 N. Broadway,
Suite 1000. Every
group should send a representative but anyone and everyone is
welcome.
This
meeting is a business meeting to discuss the business and
activities of the Wichita Information Service.
